Laib & Seele
What is Laib & Seele?
Laib & Seele is a joint project of the Berlin food pantry system (Berliner Tafel), the major public radio corporation (rbb), and the Protestant Church of Berlin-Brandenburg (EKBO).
Its goals are to:
- save surplus but perfectly good food from being thrown away
- distribute it free of charge to people in need
- offer people with time and motivation the chance to volunteer and make a positive impact
There are currently 49 distribution points across Berlin – and the number is growing.
Who is considered in need? Who can come to us?
People are eligible if they:
- live in postal code 10783
- can prove financial hardship, for example with:
- Bürgergeld / Hartz IV approval
- basic income support for seniors
- benefits under the Asylum Seekers’ Benefits Act
- BAföG (when it’s not enough to live on)
- a very low pension
- other situations of financial strain
Food is distributed every Friday evening from 16:00 to 18:00.
We always need help on Friday with driving the van, food pickup, sorting the food, distributing it, and cleaning up.
